There's a Tool Wrench in There if you Need it

The manuscript was dropped in the post on Saturday morning. It is out there in the ether. I've been surprisingly nervous about this. I'm telling myself not to worry: it's out there now, and there's nothing I can do about it. The worst that can happen? It'll come back in a couple of months, I'll get depressed for a while, and then I'll send it back out.

I must admit I didn't feel like much of a professional on Saturday morning, carrying my manuscript into town in a carrier bag. I didn't want it to get wet in the rain. The guy behind the post office counter gave me a funny look when he read the address on the envelope (noting the word 'Editor', no doubt), but he didn't say anything.

I've since worked out that, even if they do accept my story, I will make a loss. Amusing, this publication pays $5/story (which'll work out at about £3), but I've already paid £3.73 in postage. Just as well I'm not trying to make a living out of this :)

Even the News Monster is Acting Strange

On Friday night and Saturday night I added 550 words to, and finished, Chapter 8 of Dearest . . . Yay me! I'm almost into double figures on my novel chapters. And it's only taken me two years so far. Hmmm.

I'd best go get some more writing done. Later . . .
